Nyack Halloween Parade 2013 is October 26th!

Floats! Marching Bands! Ghouls! Goblins! Stilt Walkers! The Nyack Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Nyack’s 26th Annual Halloween Parade — the largest Halloween Parade outside of NYC! Over 20,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Main and Broadway on Saturday, October 26, 2013 for the 26th Anniversary of this outrageous, family-friendly event.

Step-off time is 5:30pm. Marchers and floats will assemble in Memorial Park starting at 4:00pm. Rain date is October 27.

The fun starts at 3:00pm in the Main Street parking lot, with music provided by Anjel Blue Rehearsal Studios.

The music continues after the parade with Frankie D and the Boys in the Main Street parking lot, and the awarding of prizes.

All are welcome to march and to register for the Costume Contests and Best Float Prizes.

Nyack’s Halloween Parade a Goblin Affair

The Nyack Chamber of Commerce will present their 25th Annual Halloween Parade, the second largest Halloween Parade in the New York Tri-State area.

Building on its record-breaking crowds of the past four years, over 20,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Main and Broadway on Saturday, October 27, 2012 for the 25th Anniversary of this outrageous, family-friendly event.

Step-off time is 5:30pm. Marchers and floats will assemble in Memorial Park starting at 4:00pm. Rain date is October 28.

All are welcome to march and to register for the Costume Contests and Best Float Prizes. This year’s Best Float Prize is $1,000.00.

Returning this year to lead the Parade will be Hon. Harriet Cornell as Parade Grand Marshall, Nyack’s Mayor Jen Laird-White as Parade Grand Poo-Bah, Village of Nyack Trustees as Guardians of the Gates, and other esteemed politicians and local celebrities. As of the time of this press deadline, we are hoping that Rosie O’Donnell will be able to join us for her 5th year as our Celebrity Judge with the Trustees rounding out the judging.

Parade-goers will see a reprise of the “Festival of Ghouls” (15-foot parade-size puppets worked by Nyack’s Amazing Grace CIRCUS!), five of Rockland County’s top marching bands (including the newly re-formed Nyack High School Marching Band under the direction of Mike Smith), Suburban Roller Derby of Westchester, the H.O.G.S., Hudson Vagabond Puppets, unicyclists and stilt-walkers from Amazing Grace CIRCUS!, and hordes and hordes of ghosts, goblins, creatures of the dark, knights of the night, skeletons, pumpkins and really scary stuff.

Returning this year in the Municipal Parking Lot on Main Street and Artopee Way from 3:00pm to 5:00pm:

  • Live Music on the Orangetown Bandstand, sponsored by Anjel Blue Rehearsal Studios in Nyack
  • Sponsor tents from local businesses
  • Novelties and food vendors

The best float prize this year is sponsored once again by Casa del Sol proprietors Gina and Jorge Cambre, who also throw a wicked after-parade party starting later in the evening.

Main Street will be closed from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for all the parade activities. The much-anticipated Prize Awards will be handed out IMMEDIATELY after the parade ends. There will live music and dancing in the parking lot after the awards.

October 27, 2012, marks the 25th Anniversary of The Nyack Chamber of Commerce’s Famous Halloween Parade. It is the largest parade in NY outside of Manhattan – over 25,000 people are expected on the streets of Nyack. And your group could win $1,000 in cash for any of your projects or scholarship programs!

Come up with the coolest float entry representing your group and enter it today. The media is already lining up to cover the Parade: we will have a live feed and coverage from Z100, WFAS, CABLEVISION and many other TV, radio and streaming entities.

The Best Float Cash Prize of $1,000 is sponsored by Chamber of Commerce member Casa del Sol Restaurant in Nyack on Main Street. After the Parade is over, the Judges (the Village Trustees and Rosie O’Donnell) will decide the winner at the Bandshell in Riverspace Parking Lot. Then why not go to Casa to have dinner or a drink and say thank you for their support of this community event.

You must register by October 20th to be eligible. No float will be accepted on the day of the parade.
